[Syty] Hood latch

My inside hood release has been getting very hard to operate. I have to be
sitting in the seat for leverage, and it takes two hands to pull. The
problem does not seem to be a binding cable, but something in the latch
itself.
 When it finally releases, it makes a very loud pop, as if it had been under
lots of pressure.
 Is there something to adjust, or to lubricate?
