Yeah, sounds fishy. Read his email: Hi, I'm really sorry for this late reply but I've been very busy lately and away from a computer. The car is located in Playa Vista CA. It has all the papers as well as the service book. About the car 78765 miles on board, I can say that does not drip, leak, lean, smoke, pull to one side, vibrate, or make funny noises. It has never been in ANY wreck, has never hit a curb, was never hit while parked, the alignment is perfect, it tracks smooth at any speed. It has a clean car fax which confirms the accuracy of the mileage. It has a clear title and it will be signed and notarized on your name as soon as the payment will be completed. I want this transaction to be as smooth as possible as I am caught in the middle of some very important events and have very few time at my disposal. The price is only 5,000.00 including shipping costs anywhere in the continental US and insurance charges. Regarding the payment I am aware of the buyer's protection and we will use Squaretrade vehicle purchase protection program which will hold the payment until you receive the car. To complete payment the buyer must have cash available. By making a deposit you are not buying the car ,is just the way the program works (and in case you buy the car it will give you a 1 month/1000 miles guarantee). However , it is 100% refundable if the car is not as described . If you are interested in this car please provide me the following information's necessary to take a decision : -your full name and address for shipping -your phone # Once again I apologies for requesting this but I need to be sure I am dealing with interested people as I really don't have much time to spear. Maybe Russ can accurately answer the following questions that I have: I heard that 1989 - 1990 Trans Am fog lights are interchangeable with Sy/Ty's. True? My '92 Ty is ser. # 184. It has a Black GMC logo on the grill, just like earlier Sy's I've seen. I note that my previous Ty #1732 that I bought new in '92, (and was stolen from Freehold, NJ GMC's lot in '03 with 235k on speedo), had the more common bright RED GMC logo on the grill. I assume then, that PAC used- up whatever on the- shelf 1991 Sy GMC grill logos they had and installed them on the early vintage '92 Ty's, before switching over to GMC's stock Red logo on the grill later midstream in 1992 production. True? Ty Trivia question: At what 1992 Typhoon ser. # did the GMC grill logo color switchover occur? Also, I note there's minor differences at the Turbo. on the earlier and later TY's. Not sure what they are- but the waste gate controller seems different and/or oil sending unit. What are the differences? What they wanted to build was a roadable copy of a race car that used a turbocharged V-6 engine. The regular production TransAm used a normally aspirated V-8. The job of productionizing the race car fell to Prototype Automotive Services. Rather than install the engine in a separate facility, to cut costs the plan was to trick the production line the car being assembled has the normal V-8, rather than actually a V-6. The turbo engine would need to be prepared in a facility separate from the Van Nuys, CA assembly plant, and there were other special parts of the car that would need to be completed in that facility also. General Motors people can build hundreds of thousands of cars, but building 1500 they had never done, and were not quite sure how. To plan all this PAS called on associates Bob Marianich, Tony Cassani, and myself. We worked out the system flow, and designed the facility. Bob Marianich built the facility in City of Industry, CA. I wrote the processing and specified all the tooling for the car. In addition I trained the key plant personnel to build the car. Between January and April 1989 1550 20TA Pontiacs were built. I also wrote the Quality Control procedures for the car, and it proved to have the lowest Warranty costs of any GM product that year. After the 20TA series, the City of Industry plant was shipped to Shreveport, LA and became the GMC Syclone plant. Following that the plant was shipped to Pontiac, MI to produce the Typhoon and Sonoma GT. T97J1710.pdf Russ Shreve rlshreve at aol.com AOL now offers free email to everyone. (I took the left foglamp out of the TTA to have the nicely shaped hole serve as an airscoop....) And I think the Torx screws are the same as well, but it's been a awhile and I seem to remember some discrepancy... but nothing a good, inventive hot-rodder couldn't work out. I did surgery on my Ty & Sy 4 years ago when I took out the 50W bulbs and replaced 'em with 100W units. It hardly made any difference unless you aim the lamps over 5 degrees higher....
