Let us for a moment create a scenario wherein we are involved in an accident or have a heart attack and the people attending us get hold of our mobile phone but don't know which number to call to inform our family members. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? For this reason, we must have one or more telephone numbers stored under the name ICE (In Case of Emergency) in our mobile phones. Recently, the concept of "ICE" has been catching up quickly. It is simple -- an important method of contact during emergency situations. As cell phones are carried by a majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or person who should be contacted during an emergency as "ICE." The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when they went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. Following a disaster in London , the East Anglican Ambulance Service launched a national "In case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff would then be able to quickly contact your next of kin, by simply dialing the number stored as "ICE." Please forward this. It won't take too many forwards before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. For more than one contact name, simply enter ICE1, ICE2, ICE3, etc. It's a great idea that will make a difference! Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our mobile phones today! -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... I see plenty of people who still post on there with good info. Jeff Scott, Dig, Daron, Waller, Jas Grainger.... to name a few. Yeah, you may have to dig a bit farther to find the info on syty.net, but its like Daron says.... you can review it and choose not to read it. Most of of the topics you mentioned that annoy you are located in "Off Topic", exactly where they should be. Its an internet forum with many members of all different ages, knowledge and maturity levels. Its only as good or bad as you make it. Only thing I can say is that if you want to see it better, then participate on the stuff you like and ignore the rest. Since when do you see alot of GOOD and INFORMATIVE discussion here on syty.org? *crickets* This mailing list died years ago. You forgot I blew my engine up after 2 weeks, why can't I use a Jasper engine. I personally don't think all the expertise has left, however I have been feeling the same sentiment of late on the recent topics. I don't have the energy to respond to them. If I see an intelligent post I usually try to respond to it. Most of the newbie lately seem to just want answer with any research. I think its just a phase, people priorities shift in life and hopefully soon their will be some more interesting posts wth racing season just starting and hopefully some intelligent fresh faces. Message-ID: <634846.47100.qm@web35304.mail.mud.yahoo.com> Or, my personal favorite... "I've been tuning for 5 years, charging people to do it, but I really don't understand how the ECM works. Can someone tell me?" This seems to be cyclic... every now and then, the dumb people start to take over. Particularly, in low-traffic periods. Back in the day, we used to fix this on the list by bombarding it with content. I'd have a few guys start some actually interesting threads, and a real discussion would ensue. For the most part, the BB structure keeps the content organized... the off topic stuff stays in off-topic, pretty much. It's not entirely perfect. (ie, BOV thread in the chip/prom forum) The community at large has the responsibilty of smacking the morons upside the head... when that activity relaxes, content goes in the toilet. The other thing is that with sale prices of Sys/Tys now in the cellar, it opens the door to a younger, somewhat clueless crowd. I'm not gonna be able to contribute much in the near future, as the code59 project will be taking up much of my time. Looking more like a June 1 release to public, but we'll see how that goes. Later, Dig Still #689, after all this time. ---- Sorry guys (I know I shouldn`t complain)...but I logged onto Syty.net and it seems most posting are really annoying!!! -"How do I build a 11 sec ty when my mechanic doesnt know nothing...?" -"How do I become a diesel mechanic?" -"How do I convert a S10 into a......?" -"Did you see the big wheels electic cart racers on U Tube?" -"Are there any vendors on SyTy.net (cuz I can`t read or bother to use the search feature)?" -"And Parts for Sale (cuz I can't figure out how to use or install them ....)?"
